--- SUMMARY:
Ile is an easygoing and simple-minded soul: they approach life by each day, go with the flow, and are generally unbothered by the happenings of the world. New primal just woke up? Sure, okay, I'll help.Raised to have a profound respect of the cycle of life, Ile knows his place in the world: as one of many beings in the vast immeasurable universe, who each, in the beauty of their minuteness, have inherent worth. Their cognizance of their purpose — to simply see and enjoy the phenomenon of life flowing onwards — grants them a tranquillity others do not have. They appear outwardly reserved, often content to be alone, or to simply enjoy the wordless company of another person.Their admiration and love for the world, blemishes and all, also makes them a particularly kind-hearted soul — friendly and trusting, taking people at their word. Ile generally lends a helping hand to anyone who asks without hesitation, and even when that goes awry, it's no big fuss — it is how it is.Their singular sore spot however, is any attack on their independence and autonomy. Ile fiercely guards their ability to make their own choices — their identity as them, and themself alone, is what gives value to their experience of the world. All Ile wants to do is to enjoy each day of life in this world, as it is, for each day is significant and lovely in itself. And he must do that for himself.Despite the deep significance that they instinctively comprehend their autonomy holds to them, Ile, somewhat paradoxically, still grapples with embracing their ego. Because they so dearly know that they are but a small part of the universe, and see their consciousness as something part of a greater, breathing whole, they somewhat struggle to accept that they can be selfish — to not see the world in every step they take. It's something they learn with time.--- HISTORY:
A year before this Ile was born, the last Ile passed away in his sleep — at the ripe old age of 80. Perhaps some would wonder, then, why their soul was given the opportunity to be reborn. The answer is simple: their soul burned bright till the end, of course!Ile, in their most recent past life, was one of the shepherds of the Dotharl. Due to their health, that Ile could never venture far from Dotharl Khaa. But the Dotharl knew better than to believe this showed cowardice. The soul is the soul, and the flesh is the flesh — how could limitations of the flesh ever restrict the expression of the soul? The Dotharl recognised Ile's fierce loyalty and care to their friends; although he never powerfully swung an axe, or cast any destructive, earth-shattering spell — they saw, truly, through his acts, that his soul danced boldly and fearlessly all the same.So when this Ile opened their eyes, the Khatun knew at once that their friend had returned, and they were welcomed and loved by young and old alike.Although this Ile was more reticent than the last, the Dotharl saw the same glimmer of wanderlust in their eyes. Ile always had a passion and curiosity for the natural world around them — so everyone would know, really, as the last Ile would rattle on about it if left to his own devices. So when this Ile requested to leave the Steppe to explore and see the world around them, it came to no one's surprise. With teeth-baring grins, they bid farewell to Ile. May your soul burn brightly in battle, as it always has.
MORE ABOUT ILE
they made the big straw hat they wear all the time :}
ile is not particularly into fighting, but they're also not a Pacifist. death is as much a part of life as living is — that's just how it is.
fighting/battling is such a regular part of Dotharl life, he barely flinches at it. he will kill a man with very little hesitation, and will generally be confused at baggage about death.
they are very fond of gathering, crafting and gardening! its fun and fresh for Ile. It's basically what they enjoy in life right now, wholeheartedly and fully.
Ile is no grand warrior inspired by ideals of heroism, justice and servitude. The only thing Ile really initially shares in common with the Scions is friendship. They'll come and beat up a primal if a friend asks, but other than that, you'll find them hanging out with Beatin in Gridania; fishing at the Isles of Umbra; up on a steep mountain in the Coerthan Highlands, seeking out ornery karakul...
(Some characters get a bit annoyed/offended by ile's 'apathy' to 'Evil'; but really, the 'apathy' is sourced in a general acceptance and love of just how the world simply Is)
DOTHARL BELIEFS
I take a more liberal interpretation to the Dotharl's beliefs that may diverge from canon (MSQ/sidequests) and maybe fanon. Of course, do what you like, but this interpretation of Dotharli culture is very key to Ile's character, and essentially 'canon' in their existence.
(If you have a cultural heritage close to the Dotharl / Xaela more widely, and/or feel that any part of my headcanon is disrespectful, please let me know - I've done my best but understand there's always more to learn and plenty to be ignorant of.)
The Dotharl believe that their people are reincarnated within a year of their passing — their souls are eternal, and each gets reborn into a newborn child. This is granted that their "soul burned bright", which can be understood as: they were fearless, bold, and courageous.
From the game, we know that this intensity and power is most commonly demonstrated through violence and physical combat.
However, we also understand that this 'fearlessness' is tempered by a basic, foundational respect for life. Brave actions are not synonymous with reckless decisions. When members of the Dotharl are severely injured whilst hunting for food, they are not expected to throw themselves into the arms of death; if they have fought their hardest, to their limits, they are welcomed back home, to be treated back to health.
The Dotharl also make a significant distinction between the flesh and the soul. They seem to pay little mind to the flesh, actively considering the soul as worthy of far more significance [e.g.].
We understand from the game that this leads to the disregard Dotharl have towards gender. Sadu Dotharl has been a man, a woman, across different lives; and they have been equally ferocious across all. Could this idea not also extend to other matters of the flesh?
Synthesizing these two principles — that "prudent fearlessness is venerated" and "the flesh is of little significance" — we reach the conclusion that anyone can demonstrate fearlessness within their means, no matter what gender, age, condition, illness, or disability they might possess.
The Dotharl already demonstrate a good amount of inclusivity in-game: for instance, close friends of the Dotharl may be reborn into their tribe. So what more that they must believe that everyone, without qualification, can have souls that burn bright!

Eorzea's Chosen! Hero of the Realm! His name is...Lin, Beloved of Hydaelyn! Lin Hydaelyn, for short. But take some liberties and pronounce it Hydelin, would you? Flows a little smoother... Sounds better for songs, does it not? ... Wait, you don't know who he is? What heroics has he committed, you ask? Well, he — killing a bunch of gnats in a party of adventurers isn't much? W-well, he... well. You'll see! Soon, you'll regret your skepticism, and hear the tales of Lin Hydelin!Lin is an earnest and naive young man keen to prove his worth to the world. Sheltered and protected by his parents from the outer world, yet somewhat aware of the power imbalances outside the safety of his home, Lin's sense of ego lives in flux and contradiction — on one hand always assured that he is loved and cared for, yet ever worried that what they love and care for is fragile and undeserving. His occasional, clumsy blatant over-the-top extravagance simply comes out of an unintended tendency to overcompensate for his insecurities. Despite his flair, he was ultimately raised to be a considerate and kind young man, and beneath his yearning for flashy heroics, does genuinely want to help people for the sake of it. He tries his hardest to be a bit dark, edgy and stoic, but it's ultimately obvious to many that he's a bit of a... sentimental fool underneath the theatrics. It's endearing to some, annoying to others.--- HISTORY:
Jacquelin is part of a lineage of Duskwight Elezen — the Saint-Yves family — who have long made their trade through the fermentation of Mun-Tuy beans, from the time of Gelmorran days. The Saint-Yves family has generally tried to keep to themselves, labouring with the

i'll do this sometime--- HISTORY:"I want to die." "I want to live." The clash of these two desires — and their ultimately oxymoronic, yet harmonious intertwinement — created the being who named themself Canary Robb.Once, there was a Warrior of Light who fought to save the Thirteenth from its fate. But when the Flood of Darkness arrived, corrupting all within its reach — they soon began to fade. With no memory of who they once were, stuck within a vicious cycle of hunger and consumption — one single strand of their consciousness remained. The tiny remnants of a person in deep pain and suffering at their helplessness, it had only one thought — if only I could die. "I want to die."Once, there was a young orphan 'employed' by Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern — forgotten, insignificant, to all who knew them. But yet, they persisted, deeply determined to see another day, to live a long and lasting life to defy all who disregarded them. They often toiled away alone in one of the mines owned by the company — accompanied by an insignificant little bird who was a tool, yet a friend, to the young orphan. But one day, they came to be used as a tool themself — their insignificance exploited by another. Knowing that they were cruelly kidnapped by cultists to become a vessel to a voidsent, they only had one thought as they desperately fought to escape — I must live. "Please, I want to live."Perhaps some higher power heard them both — or in another view, perhaps it spited them both. For both had their wishes granted yet denied. The unorthodox meeting of two shards resulted in an extraordinary occurrence. After all was said and done, something, someone, awoke — surrounded by pools of blood of the cultists who attempted a ritual.Whether they're a person irrevocably scarred by the memories of a shattered identity, or a voidsent now tempered by the humanity of a young human soul — or something else entirely... you don't know, and neither do they. Does it matter? Well, maybe that's something they'll figure out with time.
